Karen A. Henson

Karen is a graduate of Shawnee High School and received her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. She subsequently obtained her law degree from the University of Oklahoma Law College of Law in 1979, where she was an editor on the Oklahoma Law Review.

Karen is licensed to practice in all 77 counties within the State of Oklahoma, the Federal Court of the Western District of Oklahoma, and the Federal Court of the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Main areas of practice include estate planning, probate and guardianship, trusts, business law and family law. She is a member of the Oklahoma and Pottawatomie County Bar Associations.

For over 30 years, she has consistently annually received the top rating of “AV Preeminent”, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards, by her peers of attorneys, and judges, through Lexis Nexus-Martindale Hubbell. In 2012, she was listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers in the United States in both legal ability and ethical standards. She has lectured on several occasions at the Oklahoma Bankers’ Association Lending School.

Karen is also involved in civic and community activities. She has served as a Trustee on the state-wide Board of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence since 1986, and as President of the Shawnee Educational Foundation. She has been a member of the Shawnee Advisory Board to Oklahoma Baptist University from its inception to present, and served as President of Oklahoma Baptist University Alumni Association. She has additionally served at various times as a member of the Board of Directors of the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma, chairing the Trust Administration Committee, and on the Board of Directors for the Shawnee YMCA, Youth and Family Resource Center, and United Way of Shawnee.
